Removing deck plates and doubling plates
Do you need to remove deck plate or doubling plates in a safe and controlled manner – even in explosive zones? Our grinding and cutting tools are developed specifically for this purpose and are certified for use in ATEX gas zones 1 and 2. The cutting tool is also certified for use in ATEX dust zones 21 and 22.

Removing deck plate
Here we are removing a weld against a deck plate – this is done easily and effectively using the A-0503 / A-0302 in combination with support tools A-0410 or A-0420.
We work vertically down the plate and may go slightly into the plate to ensure full weld removal.
If it is important not to damage the underlying plate or surface, you can work horizontally on the final portion of the weld.
Horizontal weld removal
The advantage of using the A-0503 disc for weld removal is that it can be placed completely flat against the ground or plate, enabling effective horizontal weld removal.
Flushing the surface
After the weld seam has been removed, the A-0503 weld seam disc can be used to flush the surface.
